Non-destructive monitoring of cropgrowth is critical for assessing growth status, guiding precision managementand predicting productivity. Significant progress has been achieved in recentyears involving different aspects in growth monitoring, such as the emergenceof various low-altitude sensing systems and the availability of vast amount of satelliteimagery (e.g., Landsat and MODIS) for croplands. The main goals of thissymposium are to exchange information on the state-of-the-art of current approachesto growth monitoring and related fields, and to discuss future directions andopportunities for collaboration, leading to practical applications with advancedproducts and systems. Submitted papers will be reviewed and published in a bookafter the symposium.

作物生长监测技术在评估作物长势，指导作物精确管理和预测产量上占有重要地位，是当今面向精确农业的数据获取、处理与应用的前沿领域。近年来涌现的各种高光谱成像系统、低空遥感系统和大量可免费获取的卫星影像，使得作物生长监测技术的研究和应用取得了很大的进展。为进一步推动作物生长监测技术研究与应用的发展，南京农业大学国家信息农业工程技术中心将于2014年9月13-16日在南京举办第一届作物生长监测国际研讨会。此次研讨会的目的主要是展示国内外作物生长监测领域取得的最新进展及成果，增进广大作物生长监测技术研究人员之间的交流，探讨作物生长监测技术未来的发展方向和合作机会，进一步促进先进监测技术和系统的发展及应用。所提交的论文经评审后，将于会后正式出版。
